Lough Key is a magical place when viewed from the shore, but when on the water the Lough comes alive and the place becomes sensational. With enchanting names like Orchard, Trinity, Drumman and Castle islands, there are dozens of tiny islands and Crannogs nestling in this ancient waterscape. On our kayak adventure, our instructors will give you a lesson in paddle technique and then lead you off into the Lough to visit some of these lovely little hideaways. With special permission to land on some of the islands, you will see a side of the Forest park reserved for the Otters and waterfowl. Explore the canal inlets too, before gliding back to the visitor centre for a well earned cup of tea and maybe a rub down with a nice fluffy towel (we’re not saying you will definitely get wet, but there’s a fair chance you will – we all like to splash don’t we!)
With our very stable fleet of modern plastic sit-on-tops boats, this activity is open to total beginners or veterans of the water in search of a different perspective on this glorious spot.
Bring warm clothing that you do not mind getting wet and a change of clothing for afterwards. There are changing facilities provided.
